National Livestock Mission (NLM)
The National Livestock Mission (NLM), launched in the 2014-15 financial year, aims to ensure the quantitative and qualitative improvement of livestock production systems and enhance the capacity of all stakeholders. The scheme has been realigned since 2021-22 to be implemented as a sub-scheme of the White Revolution - Rashtriya Pashudhan Vikas Yojana.
NLM focuses on developing entrepreneurship and creating forward and backward linkages for the products, with a special emphasis on breed improvement, feed and fodder availability, and overall development of the livestock sector. This mission is crucial for creating employment and increasing the income of farmers and livestock rearers across the country.
